Advanced Standing

High school students may earn technical college or advanced standing credit by successfully completing certain high school course. They are either: (a) covered by articulation agreements between their high school and a technical college or (b) part of a recognized Youth Apprenticeship program.

Moraine Park Technical College will evaluate these completed high school courses to determine if it will meet current program requirements, general education requirements or other graduation requirements of the specific academic program they choose.

A. Career Prep Courses

A student may earn credit or advanced standing for a specific technical college course or courses under the following conditions:

  • The high school course(s) have been identified through an articulation agreement as comparable to the specific technical college course or courses.
  • The student presents appropriate documentation of high school course(s) completion that meets the conditions stated in the articulation agreement.

B. Youth Apprenticeship

A student who has completed a state-approved youth apprenticeship may earn credit for a specific Moraine Park Technical College course or courses under the following conditions:

  • To be eligible for an associate of applied science degree, diploma or certificate, students must earn one-fourth (25 percent) of the credits required in the program sought at Moraine Park Technical College.
  • The student presents appropriate documentation of successful completion of the youth apprenticeship program.
