Application Deadlines for International Students

The normal cycle to process international documents and records is four to six months, which makes early planning crucial.

To begin classes during the Fall Term (August):

  • May 1 – Your admission application must be submitted by this date.
  • June 1 – All admission materials must be received and processed by MPTC no later than this date.

To begin classes during the Spring Term (January):

  • International Students may not start a program during spring unless the program allows summer enrollment.
  • September 1 – Your admission application must be submitted by this date.
  • October 1 – All admission materials must be received and processed by MPTC no later than this date.

Admission Process for International Students

 Step 1: Review All Requirements

  • Before applying, review all required steps to ensure you can complete them.
  • To be admitted and attend Moraine Park Technical College, international students must meet every requirement listed on this page.

Step 2: Choose a Major/Degree

  • Choose your program. Review the campus location and program details.
  • International students may enter a one-year or two-year technical diploma, or an associate degree program.
  • International students are NOT eligible to take programs less than one year in length, programs that are fully online, or pre-core health science programs.

Step 3: Apply Online

Step 4: Submit Supporting Documentation

  • Watch for an email from internationaladms@morainepark.edu for details about items required for admission.
  • Complete the International Student Information and Financial Documentation Form.
  • Submit a copy of your current passport.
  • Submit letter(s) from sources of financial support indicating availability of funds to cover the annual cost of tuition, books and supplies, room & board, and miscellaneous expenses while studying at Moraine Park (currently a minimum of $15,000 USD.)
  • Submit evidence of medical insurance coverage while residing in the United States (this can either be a current policy that will cover you during your studies or details of where you plan to obtain coverage once in the United States.)

Step 5: Submit Transcripts

  • Send your official high school (secondary) transcript.
  • Send your official college/university transcript, if applicable.
  • Transcripts must be translated to English by a translation agency.

Step 6: Submit Placement Test Scores

  • Submit assessment results for Reading, Writing, and Math.
  • Moraine Park accepts scores from SAT, ACT, or you may take the Accuplacer at MPTC.

Step 7: Submit Proof of English Proficiency

Minimum Score Requirements:

  • TOEFL Internet-based test (IBT) prior to January 21, 2026 minimum score 61
  • TOEFL Internet-based test (IBT) after January 21, 2026 minimum scale score 3.5

Step 8: Submit Additional Requirements

  • Additional steps may be required for some programs. Information will be provided to applicants via email, phone, or U.S. Postal Service if necessary.
  • International students applying for a program that requires a criminal background check are responsible for varying fees based on the student’s home country.

Step 9: Admitted Students F-1 Visa

  • An F-1 Visa is required for a student pursuing academic studies and/or language training programs.
  • After all admission requirements have been satisfied and you are accepted into a program, MPTC Registrar’s Office will issue a Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 to the student. (If the student’s start term changes, a new I-20 must be issued, and the student will be charged and additional $150 reissuance fee.)
  • The student is then responsible for presenting the following documents to the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate in their country for processing:
    • The original/signed I-20 Form documenting college acceptance.
    • A copy of the Statement of Financial Support submitted during the admission process.
    • Receipt of payment for the Student & Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS) I-901 fee. (Students can submit the required SEVIS fee and print the receipt www.fmjfee.com.)

Step 10: Arrive in the United States

  • After obtaining an F-1 Student Visa, students should contact the MPTC Registrar’s Office at records@morainepark.edu to provide notification of their anticipated arrival date.
  • Students should plan to arrive no later than one (1) week prior to the start of classes, but no earlier than 30 days prior to the start of the classes. (Moraine Park does not provide on-campus housing or assistance locating housing. Students are responsible for finding housing. The city of Fond du Lac has private accommodations at vuecampus.com.)
  • To maintain the F-1 status, students must:
    • Attend the school that is stated on the I-20 Form.
    • Maintain a full-time enrollment status (minimum of 12 credits) and make reasonable progress towards a degree.
    • Report any changes in visa status immediately to USCIS and MPTC personnel. (Including any leave of absence for school breaks, vacations, etc.)

International Admissions FAQ

Your application for Admission must be submitted by May 1 for starting in the fall (August) semester, and September 1 for the spring (January) semester.

Moraine Park Technical College considers you an International Student if you are a citizen of any nation other than the United States of America. You are not considered an International Student if you are: a dual U.S. citizen, U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (green card holder), refugee/asylee, or a U.S. citizen living abroad.

No, International Students with a visa issued by Moraine Park cannot study part time. U.S. immigration law requires that all International Students on F-1 student visas maintain full-time enrollment. To be considered full time, undergraduate students must be registered for a minimum of 12 semester credits.

Testing is not available at Moraine Park. Information about TOEFL testing is available on the Educational Testing Services web site: www.toefl.org  Information about the PTE Academic testing is available on the PTE Academic web site: pearsonpte.com

  • International admission application (with $100 processing fee)
  • International Student Information and Documentation Form
  • Copy of current passport
  • TOEFL or PTE results (or equivalent English proficiency results,) if applicable
  • Affidavit of Financial Support and bank statement confirming funding for education
  • Proof of medical insurance, or plan to acquire coverage once in the United States

When all admissions requirements have been satisfied and acceptance into an MPTC program has been granted, the Certificate of Eligibility Form I-20 will be issued by the Student Records Office. Students should present the following documents to the nearest US embassy or consulate in their country for processing:
1. The original, signed I-20 form documenting college acceptance.
2. A copy of the statement of financial support submitted during the admissions process.
3. Receipt of payment for the Student & Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS) I-901 fee. Students can submit the required SEVIS fee and print the receipt of payment at: www.fmjfee.com.

In addition to completion of the admission process detailed above, the college will also need a local (Wisconsin) address on file to complete the I-20 form.

You will need to file for an extension in order to change your start date (and if your I-20 has already been issued, a $150 I-20 re-processing fee will be assessed for each extension.) Contact our Student Records Office for assistance at records@morainepark.edu.

Moraine Park will defer the Accuplacer test until you have arrived in the United States. You will need to schedule and take the assessment before beginning your first semester. Accuplacer scores are required for correct placement in courses. We recommend your work very closely with your advisor for appropriate course planning.

You must complete a Criminal Background Check through our provider, CastleBranch. You will be required to run a local (U.S.) background check as well as one from your home country. You are responsible for the additional cost of the international criminal background check. The fee varies based upon the country. CastleBranch is also able to run international checks with your permission and payment.

No, unfortunately International Students are not eligible for United States or Wisconsin Financial Aid.

No, Moraine Park does not offer work options to International Students attending on a student visa.

Yes. International Students are not eligible for the following associate degree or technical diploma programs:

  • Nursing
  • Surgical Technology
  • Radiography
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Respiratory Therapy
  • Health Information Technology
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Child Care Services
  • Criminal Justice
  • All Information Technology Programs
  • Legal Studies/Paralegal
  • Water Quality Technology
  • Electrical Power Distribution

Also, International Students cannot be admitted to certificate programs or technical diploma programs that are less than one year in length.

International Students with an F1 visa are allowed to take online classes; however, only 3 credits of online course work count toward the full-time (12 credits) requirement in a given semester.

No. Moraine Park does not have on-campus housing and does not provide assistance on locating local housing. This is the student’s responsibility.
