Attorney C.L. Lindsay III is one of the nation’s leading experts in student discipline and higher education law. He has spent the last 20 years working with college students, teaching them about their legal rights and responsibilities.

On its face, the First Amendment seems simple—people have a legal right to say whatever they want. But in reality, free speech rights are much more nuanced and are, of course, much less absolute.  Most importantly, C.L. will teach you how to effectively talk to people with opposing views.

Freedom of expression is a core Constitutional right. But speech doesn’t matter at all if no one else hears it. It’s our duty to seriously consider opposing beliefs. College students often lose sight of that listening side of the equation. In this lecture they’ll not only learn the basics of First Amendment law, they’ll also be taught how to have meaningful dialogues with those who oppose their beliefs.
