High School and College Dual Enrollment Opportunities

Moraine Park is here to help your student earn college credits in high school and get a jumpstart on their degree.

These Dual Enrollment opportunities make college more affordable and introduce high school students to higher-level coursework before they immerse themselves in college.

Dual Enrollment Opportunities:

0
students took dual credit courses (2022-23).

0

Other ways to earn college credit while in high school:

Advanced Placement (AP) courses prepare students to attempt the Advanced Placement Exam. Successful completion of AP exams can lead to the awarding of college credit. Read how Advanced Placement credits are accepted at MPTC.

Cooperative Academic Partnership Program (CAPP) enables students to complete college coursework (through several Wisconsin colleges) available at their high schools. Students who apply to a program at MPTC need to provide an official transcript from their CAPP college/university for review and transfer.

Is an Education at MPTC Worth it?

More than ever, students and families are questioning the value of a college degree. Does the investment (time and cost) pay off when local employers are paying high wages and benefits?

While you and your student will need to make that decision together, here are some actual numbers and facts to consider:

Facts at a Glance. 89% of grads are employed in positions related to their career field. 96% of grads say they are satisfied/very satisfied with their training. 94% of Moraine Park grads are employed six months after graduation.

Considerations

  • Many careers require a degree or specialized skills and training.
  • Future earning potential and promotions significantly increase as a result of a degree.
  • Wisconsin’s technical colleges are the most cost-effective option for many career paths.

Program Highlight

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is the quiet but mighty health care profession. Where curiosity and precision lab testing support healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating patients, influencing medical decisions and contributing to patient care.

MPTC has an excellent program supported by a variety of clinical sites and employers. Our students have a reputation for their skills and high-quality work.

Get the facts on MPTC’s graduates:

  • 2022 grads reported a median salary of $54,177. 2023 grads reported even higher pay with signing bonuses. (The official 2023 data is not out yet.)
  • Consistently have 100% pass rate on the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification exam.

This spring, MPTC piloted a career academy with Horace Mann High School (North Fond du Lac) where 11th and 12th grade students could earn the Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor technical diploma. Academy grads can begin employment as a phlebotomist or apply their courses toward the MLT Associate Degree.

Featured Student of the Month

Meet Layla H.

High School Graduating Class of June 2024

Pursuing her Associate Degree in Nursing at MPTC.

“I have wanted to be a nurse since I was in fifth grade. During my high school years, I have been doing everything I can to get a head start in nursing. The instructors are so kind and incredibly helpful to me as a high school student in college. I have had great people alongside me, which makes the whole experience even better.”

Layla took a combination of classes with dual credit at her high school and Start College Now at MPTC to earn 30 college credits by the end of her senior year. Perfectly timed and with great dedication, she was able to successfully enter the Associate Degree Nursing program and will begin clinicals this fall.

She’s an excellent student and will be an excellent nurse by 2026!

We’re so proud of Layla and excited she chose Moraine Park.

FACT: Did you know that MPTC’s Nursing program prepares graduates to take the same state exam as their four-year college counterparts to become a registered nurse? Did you also know that MPTC’s Nursing graduates consistently average 98% pass rate on the first attempt? (Read the article: All MPTC Spring Nursing Graduates Pass NCLEX)
