IT Web Designer/Developer Program Information

Important Information to Know

IT Web Designer/Developer classes are typically delivered in a video conference format to the West Bend and Fond du Lac campuses in the evenings, as well as online. Classes are usually 16-weeks in duration.  The online option may be “synchronous”. (Synchronous means there are real-time scheduled classes that you attend virtually.)

The classes follow a specific sequence each semester.  It is important to work with your Academic Advisor when scheduling classes, especially if you are attending part-time. It is sequenced for a full-time student to complete in three semesters. One mistake could delay your graduation by a full year.

This program has a few general education courses (i.e. English, College 101, and Technical Reporting). These classes have flexibility in duration, scheduling, and location.

Something to consider: As an IT Web Designer and Developer Technical Diploma student, you are completing many of the same program courses as the Associate Degree program, Web Development and Design Specialist.  The difference is 21 credits – two additional web classes and five additional general education classes. By taking the extra credits, you could graduate with both degrees.

Moraine Park also offers an IT Mobile Application Developer associate degree that partners well with the Web Associate Degree. These two programs combined are referred to as a dual degree.  Many students choose to complete all three for the best employment and salary options.

Details when adding other degrees:

  • IT Web Development and Design Specialist requires 7 additional classes. (21 credits)
  • IT Mobile Application requires 8 additional classes. (22 credits beyond the Web development associate)
  • A full-time student can complete these three degrees in 2.5 years.  Taking summer classes could allow you to progress even more quickly.
  • The dual degree academic planner would be followed.
  • You would work with your advisor to add the dual degree option and select classes.

Please contact your Program Advisor to schedule a meeting so we can discuss your schedule and other important details.
