Beaver Dam Police – K9 demonstration

A K9 officer is a law enforcement officer who handles and uses the skills of police dogs to assist in the execution of certain duties including drug detection, apprehension of criminals and detecting explosives. The Beaver Dam Police Department will conduct a K9 demonstration.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office

Less lethal force demonstration Use of force incidents in the criminal justice system have received a lot of media attention in recent years. While using force to resolve a hostile situation is an option to those in the criminal justice field, it is not the preferred option. The professionals who are tasked with protecting and serving the community will use various levels of force depending on the actions and behaviors of the subject they encounter. This demonstration will show some of the less lethal force options used to resolve a volatile situation.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office/Wisconsin State Patrol

Drone display and demonstration Technology has impacted the lives of everyone, including those in the criminal justice field. Drones are a tool used by criminal justice agencies to search for missing persons, monitor situations and even deliver items to areas or people during crisis situations. Some of the agencies will demonstrate the capabilities of their drone component.

Oakfield Police Department – Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Drug Recognition Expert

Alcohol and drug-related problems are present in every community from large to small. Detecting the drugs and signs of impairment are skills required of officers in the field. Chief Schuster of the Oakfield Police Department is a drug recognition expert and will provide a demonstration on standardized field sobriety testing and other topics related to illicit drug use in the community.

Winnebago County – SWAT robot demonstration

Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams are utilized to resolve critical incidents involving a threat to public safety which would otherwise exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement first responders and/or investigative units. Robots are used to enhance the capabilities of SWAT and tactical response teams by allowing them to quickly and safely inspect dangerous situations. There is no longer a need to send personnel in before you’ve had a chance to assess the situation.

Discussion Panels

Communications, Corrections, and Law Enforcement Students will have the opportunity to attend three different question and answer periods with various components of the criminal justice center. Students will rotate between all three panels and gain valuable insight into the different professions.
