Dorothy McChesney

Three years ago, after being laid off from my job, I made the decision to turn a difficult moment into an opportunity for growth. I chose to return to school and begin a new path to pursue dual degrees in Web Development & Design/Marketing & Social Media Management. I’ve spent the last several years building both my technical and creative skills in both programs.

My inspiration for choosing these two degrees came from a desire to help small businesses, nonprofits, and start-up companies build and grow their online presence in ways that feel approachable and attainable. I saw how many organizations struggle to afford large agencies or fully develop their digital presence, and I wanted to learn the skills needed to help bridge that gap through affordable, thoughtful, and effective web and marketing solutions.

Through my education and hands-on projects, I’ve developed strong skills in web development and design, including responsive website design, user experience planning, branding integration, SEO-focused structure, and front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I’ve worked with platforms such as WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace to create modern, accessible, and user-friendly websites tailored to each client’s goals and audience. My approach combines both creativity and functionality, with a focus on building websites that not only look professional but also create meaningful user experiences and help businesses grow online.

My journey has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of continuous learning. What started as an unexpected setback became the motivation to build a new career centered around creativity, problem-solving, and helping organizations grow through thoughtful design, branding, and marketing.

Leah Rosene

Over the last four years I have built a strong foundation in website development and design. Developing both in technical expertise and creative mindset. My journey began at UW stout where I spent two years exploring the fundamentals of web design visual communication and user experience. I then continued my education at Moraine Park Technical College where I further refined my skills through hands on projects in real world applications.

Throughout my education I have gained experience working with core web technologies including CSS, JavaScript, and HTML allowing me to build structured and interactive websites from the ground up. As I grew in my skill set, I developed a strong interest in responsive design and ensuring that websites function seamlessly across a wide range of devices and screen sizes. I take pride in creating layouts that are not only visually appealing but also accessible adaptable and user friendly.

One of the most rewarding parts of my journey throughout this program has been discovering a passion for making websites more interactive and engaging. I enjoy experimenting with new tools, techniques and design approaches to enhance user experiences whether that’s through intuitive navigation, creative visual features, or dynamic elements. I’m always looking for new ways to push my work further and stay current with the evolving website trends.

I am passionate about continuing to grow as a designer and developer constantly learning and adapting in this ever-changing technological field. My goal is to create interactive responsive and meaningful web experiences that leave a lasting impression on website visitors.

Filipo Williams

From the start of my academic journey, I was drawn to the dynamic world of web design and development, which is a field that allows me to combine creativity with technical expertise. Pursuing my studies in Web Development has given me the opportunity to explore both the analytical side of coding and the artistic side of web design. This balance has shaped me into a versatile developer capable of building websites that are not only functional but also visually engaging.

Throughout my coursework and internship experience, I’ve strengthened my skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design to enhance user experiences, while also learning to integrate design tools such as Photoshop. Whether developing satisfying layouts or refining visuals, I enjoy working on web design to bring things to life online.

Beyond the classroom, my internship has provided me with hands-on experience collaborating with clients and teams, reinforcing the importance of clear communication, meeting deadlines, and adapting to real-world project demands. Each project has deepened my passion for transforming ideas into interactive digital experiences that connect with audiences.

As I continue to grow professionally, I’m eager to take what I learned in this program to projects that merge creativity and innovation, while expanding my expertise in both front-end and back-end development. My goal is to pursue a career that allows me to build digital solutions that leave a lasting impression through design and usability.
