Journey Program

Current High School Students

Welcome to the Journey Program!

The Journey Program is designed specifically for current high school students who are looking for a flexible and supportive path to graduation and career readiness. You’ll build academic and employability skills, explore career options, and make meaningful social connections along the way. If you’re enrolled in high school and think this program could be a good fit, talk to your school counselor to learn more.

Participation in the Journey Program begins at your high school. School staff will meet with you and your parent/guardian to talk about the program and see if it’s a good fit. To be successful on the MPTC campus, students should show good academic progress, regular attendance, and positive behavior. Students must also be at least 17 years old to enroll.

If you decide to move forward, your school will contact the Journey Program Lead to get you enrolled at either the Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac, or West Bend campus. After that, Journey Program staff will set up an orientation meeting with you and your parent/guardian to get started.

Courses You’ll Complete:
Students take the following courses or pass GED tests to complete the requirements for earning a Wisconsin High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED):

  • Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Math
  • Health
  • Civics
  • Career Awareness
  • Employability Skills
  • Personal Finance

In addition to preparing for the HSED, instructors provide activities and experiences that help students get ready for life after graduation.

Each student will spend about three hours each week gaining experience through work or volunteer activities. Students may also choose to spend three hours each week in art, music, or a foreign language at their high school to meet this requirement.
