Foundation 50th Anniversary

As the Moraine Park Foundation celebrates 50 years, it honors a legacy built on generosity and purpose. For five decades, donors have helped remove barriers, open doors and empower students to pursue hands-on education and meaningful careers.

Your Generosity. Our Mission. Empowering Students for 50 Years.

For 50 years, Moraine Park Foundation has been dedicated to providing bright futures for students in our community. Through scholarships, emergency funds, book grants and other critical resources, you have helped empower individuals to pursue their dreams—dreams that, for many, were once out of reach. Education truly transforms lives, and nowhere is that more evident than in the students we serve.”

Dana Bourland, Executive Director of the Moraine Park Foundation

Impact

Honoring our First Gift

The Moraine Park Foundation’s very first donation was inspired by a deep shared belief that education, especially technical education, should be accessible to everyone.

When Don Charleston graduated from Moraine Park Technical College in 1974 with a one-year technical diploma in Mechanical Drafting, he left with more than a credential— he left with purpose.

“Technical colleges open so many doors,” Smedberg said. “With a hands-on education like Moraine Park’s, there’s no limit to how far you can go.”

David Baldus, a Moraine Park Foundation Board member, has built a distinguished career and life rooted in the values of hard work, education and community service.

Zachary Schultz’s Story

When Zachary Schultz enrolled in Moraine Park’s Nursing program, he was determined to find the fastest, most affordable path to becoming a registered nurse. At 25, he wanted to advance quickly into his career, and Moraine Park offered a more cost-effective option. After starting the pre-core program last fall, he plans to enter the core program next semester and graduate in 2027.
