Important Information to Know
Due to high demand, this program has a waitlist. Acceptance into the program does not guarantee the ability to take core classes in the accepted term. In order to meet academic preparedness for Core program course entry, students must have 3 things completed:
- Program Acceptance
- Attend a Field Day
- Program Meeting with Advisor (must be accepted into program first)
The waitlist will be reviewed each year beginning in January. All EPD waitlist students will receive an email to their Moraine Park email address about their waitlist status and must reply to stay on the waitlist.
Once accepted, set up your Program Meeting as soon as possible. At this meeting, we will look at your individual information and create a plan for you to get on the wait list. You must be accepted into the program before scheduling your Program Meeting.
EPD core classes are offered:
- At the Beaver Dam Campus
- Monday – Friday, daytime
- Students are welcome to take General Education courses prior to joining the cohort
Students in the EPD program have the opportunity to earn a Class A CDL. Students are also required to take a CPR course. More information will be given at the Program Meeting.
Field Day
Electrical Power Distribution (EPD) students must attend a mandatory Field Day that lasts approximately 3 hours. Field Day is held in the fall and spring. You may attend a field day before or after applying to the EPD program. If you completed the Field Day before being accepted to the program, you have fulfilled the requirement.
During the Field Day you will meet the instructors who will share program expectations, perform hands-on-tasks typical in the field, talk with experts from the industry, hear a short presentation on the EPD program and wait list information. To register for the next field day, please click here or call 800-472-4554.
Tools/Uniforms
Specialized clothing, footwear, and gear are required for EPD students, with an approximate cost of $3000-$5000. Students will be invited to Tool Day when they are offered a cohort seat from the waitlist. You will be fitted for a tool belt and equipment during that time and given the opportunity to buy tools at a student discount.
