Moraine Park Celebrates 2026 Spring Nursing Graduates

Moraine Park Technical College celebrated the achievements of nearly 70 nursing graduates during its spring pinning ceremony, held at the Fond du Lac Campus on May 15.

Student speakers included Miranda Gunderson representing Beaver Dam, Amanda Fuentes representing Fond du Lac and Tyler Wagar representing West Bend.

“Our time here has taught us more than just skills and knowledge,” Guderson said. “It has taught us how to see things through different perspectives, how to critically think, and how to care deeply.”

Nursing instructors Amy Hensel, Bre Sutfin and Amy Olsen introduced the graduates during the ceremony.

“Today, you are not just receiving a pin—you are answering a noble calling,” Katie Hughes, associate dean of health at Moraine Park, said. “A calling to care for patients—not just their bodies, but their minds and spirits as well. A calling to advocate for their needs, support their families, and truly make a difference. This work will ask you to use your hands, your heart and your mind. As you begin this next chapter, know that you have the support of your instructors and fellow graduates.”

Each year, Moraine Park welcomes nearly 200 nurses into district communities. The College is known for its high-quality education and consistently above-average pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

DAISY Award

Hannah Lemke of West Bend was honored as the recipient of the College’s DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students. This national award recognizes nursing students who demonstrate exceptional care, compassion and commitment to their patients and communities.

Lemke was selected through a review process by Moraine Park’s DAISY committee, with nominations submitted by patients, staff, fellow students, faculty or community members. She was nominated twice—once by an instructor and once by a peer.

“Hannah has demonstrated strong leadership through her involvement in the Student Nursing Association. She is committed to community engagement and student outreach, actively working to foster a sense of belonging across different cohorts and peers,” the faculty nomination read. “Her efforts bridge connections among students and create an inclusive, supportive community, and it impacts and extends well beyond the classroom. Her journey reflects an important truth about nursing: Exceptional nurses are not defined solely by exam scores, technical skill proficiency or years of experience. The nurses who leave the greatest impact are those who lead with compassion, remain eager to learn, persevere through challenges and genuinely care for others. Hannah embodies these qualities, and I am proud to nominate her as today’s award.”
