Moraine Park Technical College welcomed 16 students from local high schools to its Fond du Lac Campus June 15-17 for the 2026 Manufacturing Summer Career Experience.
The three-day immersive event introduced students entering grades 9 and 10 to careers in engineering, design, robotics and advanced manufacturing through hands-on activities led by Moraine Park instructors and industry professionals. Represented high schools included Beaver Dam High School, Campbellsport High School, Central Wisconsin Christian High School, St. Mary’s Springs Academy, Waupun High School and Winnebago Lutheran Academy. Homeschooled students also participated in the event.
Each day featured a different manufacturing focus area and employer partner. Students explored mechanical design with Marchant Schmidt, quality and advanced manufacturing with Watry Industries and electromechanical systems with Mercury Marine. Participants also connected with local manufacturing professionals to learn about career opportunities and workforce needs in the region.
The experience concluded with a dual enrollment and career academy information session for students and their families, providing an opportunity to learn more about earning college credit while still in high school.
In addition to gaining hands-on experience and industry exposure, students received event T-shirts and had the chance to win one of several Bambu Mini 3D printers and accessories donated by Watry Industries.
The Manufacturing Summer Career Experience is one of several career exploration opportunities offered by Moraine Park to help students discover career pathways and connect classroom learning to future careers.
