Moraine Park Technical College honored more than 300 students for their academic achievements as members and graduates of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) and the College’s Academic Honor Society.
The celebration on May 6 at the Fond du Lac Campus recognized inductees and graduates across all Moraine Park’s campuses. Students received gold or silver honor cords to wear at Moraine Park’s spring commencement ceremony on May 16.
Abigael Loehrke Halfmann, nursing student and Moraine Park’s 2025-26 District Student Ambassador, served as the student speaker during the celebration.
“Coming to Moraine Park wasn’t just about choosing a college, but about choosing a path forward,” Loehrke Halfmann said. “At Moraine Park, I found not just an education, but opportunity. Through experiences like serving as District Student Ambassador, I’ve grown as a student, leader and person. These academic achievements are something to be proud of, and there is so much ahead of all of you.”
In addition to celebrating student achievement, Moraine Park recognized Amy Harmsen, academic honors advisor at Moraine Park, for five years of dedicated service. Harmsen received a lapel pin in recognition of her contributions and commitment to student success.
“Amy’s impact on students goes far beyond meetings and events,” Moraine Park President Bonnie Baerwald said. “Her dedicated service reflects the best of who we are as a College. She helps students grow into engaged members of their communities, and we are incredibly grateful for the pride and care she brings to this role.”
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is the largest honor society for two-year colleges. Membership in both PTK and Moraine Park’s Academic Honor Society is open to those who have completed at least 12 credits toward an associate degree or 6 credits toward a technical diploma and earned a GPA of 3.5 or above.
“I am truly honored to celebrate this wonderful milestone with the students,” Harmsen said. “Each of them has shown remarkable character and academic achievement, and I couldn’t be more proud. It has been a privilege to support them on this journey, and I have no doubt that this is just the beginning of many future successes.”
