Moraine Park’s Enrollment Grows Nine Percent

Moraine Park Technical College continues to see significant improvements in overall enrollment trends for the spring 2025 semester. Following four consecutive years of declining enrollment numbers, MPTC has now seen two years in a row of increased enrollments.  

To date, the College is noting a nine percent increase in full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollments and the highest year-to-date program student headcount in four years. 

The College is showing growth in the following key areas: 

  • Overall program headcount is up by over five percent and the growth is expected to remain strong into the fall 2025 semester. 
    • Program student headcount comparison as of February 1: 
      • 2022-23 – 3,233 
      • 2023-24 – 3,389 
      • 2024-25 – 3,571 
  • High school students taking advantage of dual credit and Start College Now opportunities have increased by nearly 14 percent. 
  • As of February 1, students enrolling directly from local high schools rose from 236 in 2023-24 to 311 in 2024-25. 
  • $3,630,276 million in financial aid will be distributed for the spring 2025 semester, with a majority as financial gifts (scholarships or grants). 
    • $2,617,028 in gift aid  
    • $1,013,249 in loans
  • Enrollment in Moraine Park’s Associate of Arts/Associate of Science (AA/AS)/University Transfer agreements have nearly doubled, growing from 70 students in 2023-24 to 136 for 2024-25 year-to-date. 
  • Moraine Park’s Apprenticeship programs continue to grow at a steady rate, experiencing over 20 percent growth in headcount year over year.  
  • The Department of Corrections online programs FTEs saw an increase of over 20 percent. 
  • Undergraduate student retention at Moraine Park remains high, with over 80 percent of eligible fall term students returning in spring.  
  • Programs with the most notable growth are Carpentry ABC Apprenticeship, Phlebotomist/Specimen Processor, Radiography, Nursing Assistant, Accounting, IT-Cybersecurity Specialist, and Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
