What sparked your interest in your program?

A love for the arts since I was kid that was very healthily nurtured by my family and friends, and a growing love for technology since I was a teenager. When the worlds of technology and art meet, you are left with graphic arts and more specifically for me, Graphic Design.

Why did you choose Moraine Park?

After touring, I loved the atmosphere and the at-home feeling of being invited and accepted into anything I decide to participate in.

Who or what has supported you most during your journey?

Without a doubt my Mom and Dad. They are the pillars of encouragement for me, whether it be harsh or kind criticism, they are always there to support me and keep me going.

What skills have you gained so far that you’re most proud of?

Definitely my interpersonal skills. Obviously I’ve become much more of an artist and graphic designer than I was when I started, but something that surprised me was how well MPTC has helped grow my professional interpersonal communication skills through online email or in-person communication.

What are your career goals after graduation?

I have a few different goals, or better said paths, in mind. I am teetering on the thought of continuing the base that MPTC has provided to me at a four-year college to obtain my bachelor’s degree in graphic design. That, or I would love to join the workforce as a junior graphic designer somewhere in Wisconsin—growing my skills and portfolio as I go.

What has surprised you most about your experience in the program?

How much I would be participating in extra-curricular events and activities. I never would’ve guessed I would be going to a Brewers game with people I’ve never met and having one of the best days of my college life doing it before coming to MPTC. I love how many activities, groups and events there are to participate in at MPTC!

What would you say to someone who is considering Moraine Park or your program?

DO IT! If you’re having a tough time choosing, remember that you can always start with gen-eds and give yourself a bit more time to choose. You always have the option to continue past an associates degree, or switch your degree no problem. No matter what the right path will come to you as long as you apply yourself, and MPTC has helped me to apply myself to my best ability, they’ll do the same for you too.
