What sparked your interest in your program?

I have always been interested in a career in the health care field. I feel the Associate of Science Transfer Degree was the best place to start. I would be able to get a well-rounded education while also having the opportunity to explore different career paths within the field. As time went on, I found I had a real interest in the field of radiography and am now working towards becoming a pediatric CT technologist.

Why did you choose Moraine Park?

I chose Moraine Park Technical College because I wanted to stay close to home and learn in a more personalized environment rather than attend a large four-year university. The smaller class sizes have made a huge difference for me—they allow for more one-on-one interaction with professors and create a space where I feel comfortable participating, asking questions and truly engaging in my learning.

Who or what has supported you most during your journey?

My greatest supporters have been the Student Life Advisors. Brittany at the West Bend campus has had the greatest impact on me since day one. She has been extremely supportive, encouraging and has always believed in me. Furthermore, Lucas and Robert have helped me grow in my passion for advocacy, encouraging me to be confident about my own abilities. These supporters have greatly contributed to my success.

What skills have you gained so far that you’re most proud of?

The skills I have developed so far that I am most proud of are leadership skills, professional communication skills and advocacy skills. I have developed these skills through my involvement in Student Senate and student government. These skills have greatly changed my life, and prepared me for my future career.

What are your career goals after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to apply to hospital-based radiography programs. My ultimate goal is to become a pediatric CT technologist, where I can combine my passion for health care with making a difference in children’s lives.

What has surprised you most about your experience in the program?

I think the most surprising thing has been the connectedness of the campus community. The relationships between students and professors are amazing. Everyone has been really kind and understanding. I think it really fosters an environment where you feel supported and appreciated.

What would you say to someone who is considering Moraine Park or your program?

Do it! Choosing Moraine Park was truly a life-changing decision for me. I came in as a very quiet person, but I made it a goal to get involved and push myself—and that completely transformed my confidence. I joined Student Senate in my first semester after seeing a poster and attending an event, and since then I’ve been actively involved in advocating for students, participating in district student government and even representing my college at the state level. Moraine Park doesn’t just help you academically—it helps shape you as a person. I feel more confident, more prepared and more like myself than before. I would absolutely encourage anyone considering it to take that step.
