Moraine Park Technical College has named Abigael (Abi) Loehrke-Halfmann of Juneau as the College’s 2025-26 District Student Ambassador.
Halfmann is enrolled in the Nursing program at Moraine Park’s Beaver Dam Campus. She is an active member of the Beaver Dam SNA Club, Beaver Dam Student Senate and District Student Government. She also served as the Governor for Moraine Park through Wisconsin Student Government during the 2024-25 academic year.
“I look forward to opportunities to share about student life and how to impact our campuses and communities,” Halfmann said. “Being involved in many aspects of student life and being a nursing student, it shows that it is possible to make the best out of your experiences while attending Moraine Park.”
Halfmann began her nursing pre-requisite courses in January 2024, petitioned for core nursing in fall 2024 and began the core nursing program in spring 2025. She plans to graduate in December 2026 and ultimately hopes to pursue a master’s degree in nursing with the goal of teaching in higher education.
Her decision to pursue nursing was inspired by personal family experiences in 2023, when her mother and stepmother both faced unexpected health emergencies.
“It was a very scary time, and I wanted to better understand what was occurring,” Halfmann said. “My previous degree in psychology led my passion for understanding, compassion and helping others, which will be a fantastic foundation to build upon to be the best nurse I can be.”
