Moraine Park Technical College has named Cynthia Benzel as its 2026-27 District Student Ambassador.

A graduate of Fond du Lac High School, Benzel began taking college courses early through Start College Now and dual credit opportunities. These courses helped her graduate early, and she chose Moraine Park for its hands-on nursing program and ability to start her career close to home.

Benzel’s passion for health care is rooted in her own experience with chronic pain and family health challenges, allowing her to empathize deeply with her patients. Her clinical at Harbor Haven in Fond du Lac confirmed her desire to pursue direct patient care, where she can support others during difficult times.

“I realized I really liked direct patient care,” Benzel said. “The nurses at Harbor Haven were so compassionate and caring, and I liked the fast-paced environment on the floor.”

Now in her second semester, Benzel is actively involved in Student Senate, Community Impact Crew, the Student Nurses Association and her role as District Student Ambassador. Her decision to get involved was intentional, as she sought to build the connections and experiences she felt she had missed in high school.

“My experience has been amazing,” she said. “Getting involved and meeting new people has helped me grow in ways I did not think were possible. As the College’s ambassador, I hope to listen to students, understand their concerns and advocate for their needs going forward. I want to be present on campus and available for students when they want to be heard.”

As District Student Ambassador, Benzel will represent Moraine Park students at the state level, serving as a voice for her peers and advocating on their behalf.

Following graduation, she plans to continue her education by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing while beginning her career in health care.
