Moraine Park Introduces Fire Medic Program Starting Fall 2026

Moraine Park has a long history of providing a strong foundation for careers in human services—and starting this fall, a new program will be added to the already robust offerings.

Fire Medic, an Associate of Applied Sciences degree program, will prepare students for careers in both fire service and paramedic, often a requirement for local emergency response departments.

The Fire Medic program will provide students with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on skills to excel in both fire service and emergency medical response. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to be both a firefighter and a paramedic, equipping them to handle the diverse and complex incidents faced by today’s emergency services.  Paramedic Students working on a simulation in the back of an ambulance.

Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT-Paramedic, State of Wisconsin Certified Firefighter 1 and State of Wisconsin Certified Firefighter 2 examinations and enter the workforce as highly skilled Fire Medics ready to serve in public or private emergency response organizations.

Fire Medic is one of three new programs starting in Fall 2026 and serves as an example of how Moraine Park continues to adapt to meet the evolving workforce needs.

Applications are open for fall 2026. Students interested in beginning their Fire Medic career this fall are encouraged to apply by July 15.
