Moraine Park Technical College is celebrating its radiography program and department leadership, which received the full eight-year accreditation award from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) on June 16.

The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, and medical dosimetry. Specialized accreditation awarded by the JRCERT offers institutions significant value by providing peer evaluation and by assuring the public of quality professional education in the radiologic sciences.

Accreditations are awarded based on their Standard for an Accredited Educational Program, which includes integrity, resources, curriculum and academic practices, health and safety, assessment, and institutional and programmatic data integrity.

An eight-year accreditation is the highest possible award an institution can receive and indicates a strong and stable program that is in full compliance with all JRCERT standards.

“Moraine Park is beyond proud of the radiography program and its strong leadership,” Bonnie Baerwald, Moraine Park president, said. “This recognition is a clear reflection of their unwavering commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and the highest standards of teaching and student support. Their efforts elevate our program and uphold the values that define Moraine Park Technical College.”

The radiography program and the accreditation process are led by Sarah Chojnacki, associate dean of health sciences; Courtney Fields, radiography instructor and clinical coordinator; Brittney Roberts, radiography instructor and program director; and Chris Schatz, dean of health and human services.

Moraine Park’s radiography program was introduced in 2006 and quickly became one of the most sought-after health programs in the district. Today, the program maintains a waiting list of over 100 students and is no longer accepting applications. The College will review the application status in early 2026 and will post updated application availability. Students interested in a career in radiography are encouraged to check the application status in early 2026 and begin with general education courses that support the program or explore related health sciences pathways—such as phlebotomy or nursing assistant, respiratory therapy, medical assistant or surgical technology–that offer similar patient-focused experiences. Moraine Park’s recruitment team and academic advisors are well equipped to guide students through the waiting process or help them select an alternative program.
