DESCRIPTION:Body Image 101 is an educational interactive program for students with comedy elements that provides practical steps on how to embrace the body you’re in and how to operate in a world that profits off of our insecurities in life\, online and on social media. But like… in a fun way. Prevention\, intervention and recovery are completely possible\, and becoming educated on weight biases\, toxic positivity\, and signs of disordered eating are key steps toward body acceptance. \nDid you know that 97% of women have at least 1 negative thought about their body image every single day? And 95% of college age men are dissatisfied with their bodies on some level? You cannot have a discussion about mental health on college campuses without discussing body acceptance and disordered eating. Eating disorders affect at least 9% of the population worldwide and have the highest mortality rate of all psychiatric diseases. \nThis show is written and created by Kacey Spivey\, a comedian\, actress\, and host who struggled with her own eating disorder and now proudly shares her recovery story. DESCRIPTION:According to recent research\, one in four U.S. adults experiences mental illness each year\, and nearly 8 million children and adolescents in the U.S. battle with serious mental illness. Many of these individuals struggle in silence without receiving support. At Moraine Park Technical College\, we care about the well-being of our community. \nIMALIVE Mental Health Fair is a program behind the suicide prevention network\, 1-800-SUICIDE\, and the world’s first virtual crisis center. The founder of IMALIVE\, Reese Butler II\, created this program after losing his wife to suicide in 1998. His goal was to educate young adults on recognizing warning signs\, spark conversations about mental health\, suicide prevention\, and raise awareness. Join us on September 24th\, from 10AM – 1PM\, for this fun\, interactive\, and educational event that raises awareness of mental health and suicide prevention. IMALIVE Mental Health Fair isn’t only an opportunity to learn\, but also a chance to make a real impact. Whether you’re learning something new or enjoying activities like graffiti art\, brain games\, and “Fact or Fiction\,” every part of the day is designed to inspire\, engage\, and unite our community to support mental health awareness.
