Vance Luckow: Welding His Future

Welding sparks

Vance Luckow, a senior at Hartford Union High School, is jumpstarting his welding career through Moraine Park’s Start College Now program. By graduation this spring, he will have earned 33 college credits—all at no cost to him.

While planning his high school courses, Luckow discovered Start College Now, a dual enrollment program allowing students to earn college credits while still in high school. After speaking with Moraine Park recruiter Sandy Botham, he knew the Welding program was the perfect fit.

“I felt the program would give me the best start for my career,” Luckow said. “With the campus so close to home, it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

Balancing high school and college courses requires discipline, and Luckow follows a structured schedule. He attends high school classes in the morning before heading home to work out, eat, and prepare for his evening courses at Moraine Park.

Looking ahead, Luckow plans to complete the Moraine Park Welding program and pursue a business degree—equipping himself with both technical expertise and business knowledge for a strong future.
