Larisa Vitiuc, an English Language Learning (ELL) student at Moraine Park Technical College, has been named the number one Burlington English user in the state of Wisconsin, logging 122 hours since January 2025.
Burlington English is an online learning platform available to Moraine Park’s ELL students. It offers flexible, personalized English instruction across areas like grammar, pronunciation, and career-focused vocabulary. Students can access the program from their phones, home computers, or in Moraine Park’s campus labs, and instructors often use it in class to supplement lessons.
While there’s no set number of hours students typically spend in Burlington English, Vitiuc’s total reflects a strong, steady commitment—averaging at least an hour every day since the start of the year.
Originally from Moldova, Vitiuc lives in West Bend and speaks Romanian, Russian, French and now English. She currently works at Grande Cheese Company in Fond du Lac. She plans to continue in Moraine Park’s ELL classes and eventually enroll in the College’s accounting program.
“I like the Burlington English program because it has many different opportunities to practice reading, vocabulary, and pronunciation,” Vitiuc said. “I like that ELL classes are both in-person and online because you can continue classes without interruption. Overall, Moraine Park ELL is wonderful and it’s so very nice that everything is offered free of charge. I hope the classes help me find a career in accounting here in the United States.”
Vitiuc’s achievement shines a spotlight on the impact of Moraine Park’s ELL program and the opportunities available to students willing to put in the time.
