What is a Non-Traditional Occupation (NTO)?

Non-Traditional Occupations (NTO) are careers that currently employ 25% or less of one gender.  Women in welding and men in nursing are examples.  Advantages of non-traditional occupations include: higher wages, good benefits, advancement opportunities and work you enjoy.

Following your passion offers many rewards, especially in NTO careers.  Still there can be challenges as you pave the way for yourself and others.

Moraine Park is here to support your journey.

If you have questions or apprehensions about entering a NTO-related classroom or career, our advisors are trained to help with career outlooks and help connecting with other NTO students, faculty or career professionals.

Additional NTO Support:

  • Emergency financial support for eligible program students
  • Awareness training
  • Personal and professional development opportunities
