Moraine Park is combating the skilled worker shortage by launching manufacturing skills academies in a series of 15-week boot camps. A consortium of partnering businesses including Amerequip Corporation, Gauthier Biomedical, John Crane, Mid-States Aluminum Corporation, Kondex, Mayville Engineering Company Inc. (MEC), and Signicast, through the use of a Wisconsin Fast Forward grant, are providing this unique training opportunity to potential candidates. Participants will gain entry-level skills in this exciting and growing field, while allowing them to earn credits toward a degree. In addition to skill development, the program includes a paid internship and a $500 student stipend to assist with expenses. The boot camp will provide essential skills to last a lifetime. Skills developed will provide experience in:

  • Machining center setup
  • Turning center setup
  • Calculations of speeds and feeds for tool and material
  • Identifying basic programming of numerical controls
  • Examining drawing formats through the reading of prints

Fees

There is no charge for tuition. However, a $30 program admission fee is required upon admittance into the boot camp.

Boot Camp Criteria

Basic requirements include: TABE testing scores in reading and math at a minimum of Level 10, Mechanical Aptitude testing and employer interviews and screenings.

Information and Testing Sessions

Individuals interested in participating are required to attend an information and testing session.
