SUMMARY:Talking Circles: Civil Discord During Election Season (BD)
DESCRIPTION:The MPTC Diversity team will host in-person talking circles on each campus to help facilitate civil discord during election season. Talking circles is a practice originating from indigenous cultures where you sit in a circle\, one person speaks at a time holding a “talking piece” and this allows for more listening and a braver\, safer space to engage in civil dialogue. Each group will have a facilitator and time will be kept with the option to “pass” if you do not have anything to say. The goal is to respectfully learn by listening and to learn how to engage respectfully.

DESCRIPTION:Nick Diffatte takes the concept of a standard “Magic Show” and flips it completely on its head\, keeping audiences laughing uncontrollably the whole time.  As one of the most sought-after variety acts touring the globe\, Diffatte’s wide-ranging appeal makes him a repeat favorite for theaters\, cruises\, universities\, and many of the world’s biggest brands – from Disney to Cirque du Soleil. \nNick’s award-winning mashup of eye-popping magic and uproarious comedy has led to regular performances at Hollywood’s famed Magic Castle and features on programs such as CBS’s The Late Late Show with James Corden.  Diffatte has performed at nearly every property up and down the Las Vegas strip\, including the New York\, New York Hotel & Casino where he is currently starring in Cirque du Soleil’s hit residency\, Mad Apple. \nFree lunch for all MPTC students and employees who attend the show!  Lunch served starting at 11:15AM. \nSponsored by the Fond du Lac Student Senate.

DESCRIPTION:The MPTC Diversity team will host in-person talking circles on each campus to help facilitate civil discord during election season. Talking circles is a practice originating from indigenous cultures where you sit in a circle\, one person speaks at a time holding a “talking piece” and this allows for more listening and a braver\, safer space to engage in civil dialogue. Each group will have a facilitator and time will be kept with the option to “pass” if you do not have anything to say. The goal is to respectfully learn by listening and to learn how to engage respectfully.
