Mike Miller and Mike Staral, both of West Bend, were recently appointed chairperson and vice-chairperson, respectively, of Moraine Park Technical College’s District Board.
Among other notable community roles, Miller has served as mayor of the City of West Bend from 1987 to 2005; served as president on the Board of Directors for the League of Wisconsin Municipalities and the Alliance of Cities; has been a paid on-call firefighter and rescue squad member; and has held memberships with the West Bend Noon Rotary, American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Miller and his wife, Alice, have two children and seven grandchildren.
Miller has been on the Moraine Park District Board since 2008. His current term expires in June 2017.
Staral, meanwhile, recently retired after 38 years at Willer Tool Corp. in Jackson, Wis. He started there as a Tool & Die apprentice and retired as the Vice President of Manufacturing.
Staral’s West Bend contributions are also significant. He is a lifelong resident, where he has served as President of Friends of West Bend Parks, is a board member of West Bend Park & Recreation Commission and board member and secretary of West Bend Baseball Association. He has also been a member and usher for 16 years at St. Francis Cabrini, and has coached, umpired and served as board member for West Bend Little League. Staral and his wife, Kate, have two sons and two grandchildren.
Staral joined the District Board in 2012. His current term expires in June 2019.
The Moraine Park District Board typically meets the third Wednesday of every month, with meeting times generally starting at 5 p.m.
