Where is the library and when is it open?
Each of the three Moraine Park campuses has a library. The hours for each of the campus libraries can be found on the library homepage.
Who can use the Moraine Park Library?
Current students, staff, and community members can use the library. If you want to check out books or magazines you must have a library card. Students and community members can obtain a library card at the circulation desk. Students can use their Student ID card as their library card.
How do I find books?
To find books, videos, and periodicals that are owned by the Moraine Park libraries you should search the online catalog. You can search for books by keyword, title, subject heading, or author. When you find the item you are looking for make a note of the Call Number and the Location of the item. These two pieces of information will help you to locate the item.
How do I get items from other Moraine Park campuses?
If the item you are looking for is available from another Moraine Park campus library you can talk to a library staff member about ordering the item. The staff member will contact the library where the item is held and have it sent to your campus library.
Can I renew a book from home?
You can renew a book from home by going to the online catalog and then clicking on the My Account near the top of the screen. You will need to know your library card barcode in order to renew the item. If the item is overdue, has been requested by another patron, or has already been renewed once you will not be able to renew that item.
What are the fines for overdue materials?
- Books and magazines 10 cents per day
- Video tapes for video based classes 50 cents per day
- Reserve materials 50 cents per day
How do I find articles?
If you need to find an article you can use one of the online periodical databases. For a list of these databases click here. If you know the name of the database you wish to search, simply click on that name in the list. For a description of each database you can click here.
Can I check out magazines?
Yes, magazines can be checked out for 3 days.
Where can I find information on citing sources using APA or MLA format?
You can find information concerning theses citation styles by visiting the Citation Guides page.
Can I do research from my home computer?
If your home computer has Internet access you can search the online catalog and look at information on the library's web pages. If you want to access the periodical databases you will have to login using your library barcode number. This number begins with 22444 and is followed by nine digits This number can be found on your library card or student ID.
How do I know if an Internet source is reliable?
Internet resources that you have accessed through the library website have been evaluated by a librarian. The information found on other sites should be evaluated carefully. The Evaluating Internet Resources guide will help you to evaluate information that you find on the Internet.
How do I access items my instructor has on reserve?
If the item is on reserve in the library you can simply ask the person working at the circulation desk to retrieve the item for you. If the item is on electronic or e-reserve you should click here. If you need to know the password for your course contact your instructor.
Can I check out videotapes, laptop computers, or AV equipment?
Videotapes/DVDs that are not in the Reserve Collection can be checked out. Laptops are available for students to use in the library. Ask at the circulation desk to find out if any are available. Each library does have TVs, VCRs and DVD players that patrons may use to watch videos in the library. If you need to use audiovisual equipment (video camera, still camera, LCD projector) for a class have your instructor contact the library. Students cannot check out these items.
Can I e-mail a librarian with a question?
If you would like to ask a question via e-mail click here. Questions are usually answered within 24 hours. If you send an e-mail question after 4:00pm on Friday you will not receive an answer until the following Monday. If you need immediate assistance during library hours feel free to call the library closest to you.

Yes, each library has a number of telephone books.
