Veterinary Technician
Associate Degree: 10-091-1
Campus: Online (clinicals required)
The Veterinary Technician two-year associate degree program focuses on the basic skills needed by individuals in order to assist Doctors of Veterinary Medicine in the overall health care, handling and restraint, and disease diagnosis and prevention of large and small animals. Gives students practical applications in animal anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and pathology. Provides for skills in assisting veterinarians in surgery and instrumentation as well as in office procedures. Clinical sites are used to learn actual procedures that a veterinary technician is expected to perform.
Due to current demand, once admitted to the program there is a minimum wait of 2 - 3 years to enroll in clinical core classes. As a result, Moraine Park cannot guarantee continuous full-time enrollment for students with precore status. (Precore status is assigned to all accepted veterinary technician students who are either working to complete the clinical prerequisites or who have completed prerequisites but are waiting for clinical course availability.)
The program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
