Steamfitting Apprenticeship

Five Years (consiting of four years of
schooling)
Campus: at the Training Center, Appleton
Steamfitters assemble, install and maintain pipes to carry water, steam, compressed air, gases and fluid needed for processing, manufacturing, heating and cooling. They adapt and repair pipe systems; install appliances, heating and refrigeration units; and weld pipes. Steamfitter mechanics troubleshoot, diagnose and repair components of heating/cooling systems and refrigeration units.
This program is a nontraditional occupation for women.

Application Requirements
Applicants should be 18 years of age and submit: (1) apprentice application; (2) medical questionnaire; (3) copy of birth certificate; (4) copy of high school diploma or equivalency certificate; (5) copy of military transfer or discharge, if applicable; (6) copy of valid driver's license; and (7) copy of ACCUPLACER test results. All applicants are required to pass a physical examination as prescribed by the local JATC.
