Clinical Laboratory Technician

The Clinical Laboratory Technician associate degree prepares students to work as medical laboratory technicians (MLT) or clinical laboratory technicians (CLT) in hospitals, clinics and doctors’ offices. Coursework develops the academic and hands-on skills to perform procedures such as collection and analysis of blood and other body fluids in such areas as hematology, chemistry, immunology, blood bank and microbiology. As graduates, they perform these analytical procedures under the supervision of a medical technologist or physician.

The program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.

Note: There are additional program prerequisites that will be explained at an admissions orientation meeting.

 

Note: Moraine Park Technical College is currently accepting applications to the Clinical Laboratory Technician program.

  

Due to current demand, once admitted to the program there is a minimum wait of 2 - 3 years to enroll in clinical core classes. As a result, Moraine Park cannot guarantee continuous full-time enrollment for students with precore status. (Precore status is assigned to all accepted nursing students who are either working to complete the clinical prerequisites or who have completed prerequisites but are waiting for clinical course availability.
