GED/HSED

Wisconsin offers two credentials to adults who have not graduated from high school: the Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) and the High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED). The chart below shows the requirements for each:

Eligibility

  • a resident of Wisconsin OR
    • have lived in the state for at least 10 days OR
    • a migrant worker or the child of a migrant worker
  • 18 years, 6 months old or older OR
    • the class with which you entered grade 9 must have graduated from high school
  • not enrolled in a high school

Getting Started
The first step in the process of earning your GED or HSED is attending a free Orientation. This two-part informational orientation will get you started working toward your personal goal. You will also complete reading and math assessments, and use those results to determine your next step. The Orientation fills up fast, so call soon to get on the list.

Graduation
Moraine Park celebrates the success of students who earn a GED or HSED each June at a graduation ceremony. Invitations to this special event are mailed in late May.
